After reflection and prayer, the Vestry of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church/El Buen Pastor, Sun Prairie invited Fr. Mike Tess to fill the open, half-time Priest-in-Charge position and he has accepted. Fr. Mike will begin serving in the capacity of Priest-in-Charge beginning February 1, 2025. Currently Fr. Mike serves as the half-time priest at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in Beaver Dam and will continue to do so.
We, the Vestry, spent some time with Fr. Mike, discussing not only the mission of Good Shepherd/El Buen Pastor, its current needs but also ideas on how Good Shepherd/El Buen Pastor will continue its mission to serve the greater Sun Prairie community. We are very excited to have him join our parish family and asked him to introduce himself to the members of Good Shepherd/El Buen Pastor. Please see his introduction below!
Hello, my name is Father Mike Tess. Some of you know me and I look forward to meeting those of you who don’t. I live in Sun Prairie with my wife. I have four children, two sons, and my two youngest daughters are seniors in college. I have a heart for parish ministry, pastoral care, and Latino ministry. Good Shepherd Episcopal Church is the ‘little white church’ at the corner of Hwy 19 and County C, located in Sun Prairie, Wi. Our Sunday services are in English at 9:00 a.m. and in Spanish at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday and other services/gatherings throughout the week.
Good Shepherd is a community that welcomes all people regardless of their age, race, gender identity, ability or sexual orientation. We believe that everyone is a beloved child of God, deserving of respect and dignity – no exceptions. All members of our community are welcomed into the full sacramental life and worship within the church community, encouraged to participate in leadership, ministry, and service at all levels.
